“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
In Jesus last command to his disciples (and us) he did not give a choice, he said that we are to go and make disciples. This raises several questions...
What is a disciple? How do we make disciples?
We define a disciple as someone who…
Is a follower of Christ
Is being changed by Christ
Is committed to the mission of Christ
How do we make disciples?
Discipleship is a process of growth and transformation
All of us start out separated from God, sinful creatures destined for Hell
Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior we begin the journey to spiritual maturity.
That journey, as in life, begins with Infancy
In time and with effort we grow into Children
As others pour their lives into us we become Young Adults
As we seek, follow, and obey Christ, allowing others to impact our lives, in time we become Parents
This is Matthew 28 lived out as God intended.
